Review: Blades of Glory

Blades of Glory…. sounds like some super ninja powered action movie, doesn’t it? Well, sorry to disappoint you, it’s nothing like that at all. Blades of glory is a movie about -you’ll never guess this- freakin’ ice skating! Notice the stress on freakin ? It’s there for a reason people…. This movie features comedy god Will Ferrell in tight outfits skating on ice. How cool is that? Seriously though, this movie rocks.

The movie starts with Jimmy MacElroy (played by Jon Heder, also known of napoleon dynamite), who has been ice skating since he was a little kid, kicking some major ass with some crazy technical moves in a tournement. Jimmy has been adopted by Darren MacElroy, a rich sports fanatic who adopts kids to train them into super athletes. It looks like Jimmy’s going to win this tournement until Chazz Michael Michaels appears. Chazz is Jimmy’s rival and a sex addict. He puts down an amazing performance aswell ending the tournement in a tie. As they accept their gold medals a fight bursts out between the two rivals. Their fans are chocked and the ice skating commission bans them both for life.

3 years later neither of the two has a steady job or a decent life and are both slightly depressed. Until some crazy fan helps Jimmy by showing him the rulebook which states that he can still skate as a pair. The next tournement is in 2 days and Jimmy can’t find a partner to skate with so he turns to his last resort: Chazz.
